What About Freelancing?

Part-time work, and contract positions, are standard in many industries, but in the media there are quite a few people who freelance, which is a little different. (Freelance work is often assignment-based and done outside the office.) Because so much of the media world is based around writing there are a lot of freelance opportunities in this sector. Many people who work in media work full-time jobs and freelance on the side while others work as full-time freelances.

With the job market so tough right now, it's not a bad idea to try to freelance, in order to make some money and build up your experience for future jobs. Check out this article about media freelancing to learn what it entails and how to get started.
